Das ist hier die Frage! Eigentlich wollte ich ja dieses Wochenende mal die Bilder von unseren Ausfluegen, teilweise mit unseren Eltern, zeigen, aber ich muss Euch erstmal das zeigen: Schnee am 1. Oktoberwochenende!

Spinnfutter / spinning stuff

Gesponnen wird im Hause AnnaRose auch noch. Im Moment spinne ich einen kleinen Kammzug Superwash Merino von Twist Of Fate. Sehr viel ist es nicht und ich denke, ich werde das Garn zu Socken verarbeiten, vermutlich Couchsocken.

The spinning wheel is still in use at the AnnaRose’s house. At the moment I’m spinning a small top Superwash Merino from Twist of Fate. It’s not very much and I think I will knit some socks from the yarn.

Das Rot auf dem oberen Photo kommt dem Original sehr nahe, es ist definitiv nicht so orange wie auf dem Spulenphoto.

The red of the top picture is more correct, it’s definitely not that orangy like on the bottom picture.

Ribbelmuster oder die laengste Socke / “frogging pattern” or the longest sock

Ich habe endlich meine Ribbelmustersocken fertig gestellt! Ich weiss nicht, warum es eigentlich so lange gedauert hat, aber ich hatte die Socken urspruenglich letztes Jahr im Maerz angefangen, ein paar Mal aufgetrennt und dieses Jahr wieder neu angefangen und siehe da mit einem Mal ging’s. So lange hab’ ich noch nie fuer ein Paar Socken gebraucht.

I finished my “frogging pattern” socks! I don’t know why it took so much time but originally I started these socks last year in March, I frogged a few times and I picked them up again this year and everything went well. I never knitted that long on a pair of socks.

Eigentlich waren wir gestern unterwegs, um nach einem Buecherregal oder aehnlichem zu schauen, damit meine Buecher endlich einen festen Platz haben. Dabei waren wir in der Naehe eines LYS und ich wollte einfach nur mal gucken gehen… Der Tag endete damit:

Nach den Buechern von Kim Hargreaves suche ich schon laenger und hatte dabei festgestellt, dass online bestellen genauso viel oder gar mehr kostet als sie hier vor Ort zu kaufen. Fuer mindenstens ein Modell habe ich bereits die passende Wolle im Stash und das wird auf jeden Fall eines meiner Herbst-Projekte. Ich kann’s kaum erwarten, anzustricken. Das Heft von Jared Flood war reine Gluecksache. In dem Moment, in dem ich diesen Post schreibe, ist es garantiert schon wieder ausverkauft, aber es ist wohl nachbestellt. Ich freue mich, dass ich es bekommen habe, denn mir gefallen einige seiner Designs.

I was looking for the books from Kim Hargreaves for quite a while but I prefer to buy it local and ordering online costs the same or more anyways. I have the right yarn for at least one sweater already in my stash and this will be one of my fall project. I can’t wait to start knitting. The booklet from Jared Flood was just a shopping knitter’s luck. I think at the moment while I’m writing this it’s gone but the girl in the shop told me they re-ordered it already. I’m happy that I got it because I like most of his designs.

Vor 2 Wochen habe ich ausserdem noch ein anderes Buch erstanden: “A Stitch in Time” von Jane Waller und Susan Crawford. Make 1 hatte eine Sammelbestellung gemacht und es ist sogar signiert:

Norah is going Elsewhere… finally she arrived

Schon vor einigen Wochen hatte ich “Norah” fertiggestellt. Nachdem ich mich nicht entscheiden konnte, welche Farbe ich stricken moechte, faerbte ich ein paar Straenge dunkelrot und stellte nun am eigenen Leib fest, dass es unmoeglich ist, mehrere Faerbedurchgaenge gleich hinzubekommen:

I finished “Norah” already a few weeks ago. After I couldn’t decide which colour I want to knit I dyed a few skeins in a dark red and realized for myself that it is impossible to dye different dye lots with the same results:

Die Farben stimmen eher auf dem letzten Bild. Rot ist hart zu photographieren.

The colours are quite true on the last picture. Red is a hard colour to take pictures.

Ich habe eine ganze Weile daran gestrickt, obwohl die Anleitung eigentlich relativ einfach ist, aber manchmal braucht man halt ein bisschen laenger… Um die Farb- und Lauflaengenunterschiede der einzelnen Straenge auszugleichen, habe ich mit 2 Knaeulen abwechselnd gestrickt. Das hat ganz gut funktioniert. Ich habe ausserdem ein paar kleine Aenderungen vorgenommen, indem ich eine Taillierung eingestrickt und die Umrandung aus dem Ganzen gestrickt habe, aber seht selbst:

It took quite a bit of time to knit this, even with a relatively easy pattern but sometimes things just take time… For dealing with the differences in dye lot and gauge I alternated 2 balls and it worked fine. I also made some modifications like knitting darts and I did knit the edge all in one piece, but look and see:

Am Samstag bin ich mit Kathleen auf der Millarville Country Fair gewesen und habe viele Komplimente und einige Anfragen bekommen, ob ich die Jacke verkaufen wuerde. Das hat mich erstaunt und gefreut, aber hergeben werd’ ich meine Jacke nicht

Last Saturday I was with Kathleen at the Millarville Country Fair (actually I don’t really know this kind of fair from Germany, it’s new to me) and I got a lot of compliments and actually some people asked if I would sell it. I was suprised and really happy about it but there is no way that I could sell it, I’ll definitely keep my cardigan

Hasenbaby, die Zweite / baby bunny again

Nachdem die Haeschen aus diesem Post leider nicht durchgekommen sind, haben wir nun letzte Woche unser aktuelles Hasenbaby entdeckt. Der Holzwurm hatte es beim Giessen versehentlich geduscht und es sprang aus dem Busch raus, in dem es sich versteckt hatte. Dieses Mal ist es offensichtlich nur ein Baby, aber deswegen nicht weniger niedlich.

Unfortunately the baby bunnies in this post didn’t make it but last weekend we discovered that we have a baby bunny again. The woodworm showered it while watering the backyard and it came out of the bush where it was hiding. It looks like that this time it’s only one baby bunny but it’s cute anyways.

Ich glaube, die Socken sind etwas zu leuchtend fuer meinen Alltag. Sie werden wohl bei Gelegenheit das Innenleben meiner Stiefel ausleuchten
