In den letzten Tagen habe ich in skandinavischen und baltischen Strickblogs des öfteren gelesen, dass viele den “Vorwand” der Jahreszahl 2012 nehmen wollen, um besondere Projektreihen zu starten: Einige haben sich für 2012 vorgenommen, in 12 Monaten 20 Sockenpaare stricken, andere 12 Pullover in 12 Monaten, andere innerhalb von 12 Monaten an 20 KALs teilzunehmen, andere wiederum wollen 20 Strickwerke à 12 Knäuel anfertigen. Habt Ihr auch schon mal an eine solche Zahlenspielerei gedacht oder würdet Ihr überhaupt solche Projektreihen starten wollen?

Ich bin auf Ravelry schon seit ein paar Jahren Mitglied in einer Gruppe namens IntSweMoDo2012 (die Jahreszahl im Gruppennamen wird immer aktualisiert) und in dieser Gruppe versuchen einige, jedes Jahr auf’s Neue 12 Pullis in Erwachsenengroesse zu stricken. Bisher hab’ ich’s noch nicht hingekriegt, 12 Pullis oder Strickjacken in einem Jahr zu stricken, aber ich lese dort gern mit, um zu schauen, was die anderen so stricken und meine Moechte-gern-stricken-Liste zu verlaengern. Ich lese auch in 2012 mit und hab’ mich auch in aehnlichen Gruppen wie “12 sweaters in 2012″ angemeldet, aber auch eher nur zum Mitlesen. Pulli 1 wartet auf’s Zusammennaehen, Pulli 2 ist angestrickt (am Sonntag angefangen und schon 35 Reihen a 380 Maschen – das ist mal ein Rekord fuer mich). Mal sehen wie das Jahr wird. Gegen Ende des Jahres werde ich wohl ich froh sein, wenn ich ueberhaupt noch eine Minute zum Stricken finde.

This week’s question is about all those KALs and groups that play with the number of 2012 and start KALs like 12 sweaters in 2012 or 20 socks in 12 etc. I have not thought about playing with that number myself but I’m reading in a group called IntSweMoDo2012 (year is always updated in the group name) on Ravelry for a few years now. I didn’t finish 12 adult sized sweaters in a year yet and I mostly read this group for inspiration. Same with groups like “12 sweaters in 2012″ which I started reading recently. Sweater # 1 is waiting to be sewn together, sweater # 2 is started (started Sunday and already knitted 35 rows with 380 stitches each – new record for me) but let’s see how the year goes. By the end of the year I’ll be glad if I find a minute to knit.

Wie strickt ihr in Runden gestrickte Kleinteile (Socken, Mützen usw.)? Benutzt ihr ein Nadelspiel? Was für eins, ein herkömmliches oder lieber Cubics??? Oder strickt ihr mit dem Magic Loop (Wunderschlinge) ?? Wenn ihr Socken mit Magic Loop strickt, strickt ihr jeden einzeln, oder gleich beide auf einmal????

Ich stricke Socken und andere Kleinteile immer noch am liebsten mit einem Nadelspiel. Magic Loop stricke ich nur bei Pullovern, die in der Runde gestrickt werden und da auch nur, wenn die Rundstricknadel zu gross sein sollte (weil die passende entweder besetzt oder unauffindbar ist ) Die Frage nach einzeln oder gleichzeitig eruebrigt sich dann, zwei Pullis simultan auf einer Rundstricknadel strick’ ich dann doch noch nicht

This week’s question is about the method you use for knitting your socks and other small projects like hats etc. (dpns, magic loop, if magic loop one or two at a time). I still knit my socks the same way I knit my very first one: on dpns. I don’t like magic loop for socks, I only use it for sweaters when the circular needle is too long (because the one with the right length is either in use or missing) but I think the answer to the question about one or two at a time obvious, I am not there yet to knit 2 sweaters simultaneously

The second sleeve is now done too and the knitting part is complete. I definitely have to block the pieces before sewing them together.

During our first year in Calgary we lived in Inglewood, one of the oldest parts of the city, and right around the corner was the Bird Sanctuary. We still like to go there for a walk and so did we today.

My photo of today gave the topic of the post. A while ago one of the knitters at the occasional Sunday morning knit meetup mentioned the website Pinterest. It is basically a virtual pinboard for all those pictures and links you would otherwise save on your harddrive and forget about it or lose them. I eventually signed up and I really like the idea. Well, I think I found another time sucker
